Terms of Service

Last updated 27 July 2026
These terms cover your use of saynothing.io. They are short and written plainly on purpose. By using the site you agree to them — if you don't, please don't use the site.

Who may use saynothing.io

You must be at least 18 years old to use this site. There are no accounts, so we cannot verify age at signup — but by posting or otherwise using the site you confirm that you meet this requirement. If we learn that content was posted by someone under 18, we will remove it.

You may not use the site if you are barred from doing so under the laws that apply to you, or if we have previously blocked you.

Anonymity, and what it doesn't cover

We do not ask for a name, an email address, or an account. We hash IP addresses and publish only a coarse region. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

What anonymity cannot do is protect you from what you choose to write. If you include details that identify you — your workplace, an unusual situation, names — the post may identify you regardless of anything we do. Write accordingly.

What you may not post

Do not post:

  • Anything unlawful, or content that promotes or facilitates unlawful acts.
  • Sexual content involving minors, in any form. This is reported to the relevant authorities without exception.
  • Personal information about another person — full names, addresses, workplaces, phone numbers, email addresses, or anything else that identifies them.
  • Threats, incitement to violence, harassment, or targeted abuse of an individual or group.
  • Content that encourages suicide, self-harm, or an eating disorder.
  • Hate speech directed at people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
  • Spam, advertising, referral links, SEO material, or automated posting of any kind.
  • Impersonation of a real person, business, or organisation.
  • Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
  • Malware, phishing, or links intended to compromise other users.

Explicit content between adults may be posted if it is marked NSFW, so that it is blurred by default for people who have not chosen to see it.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and distribute it on the site and in its feeds, for as long as it remains published.

You confirm that what you post is yours to post, and that publishing it does not breach anyone else's rights or any obligation you are under — including any confidentiality duty you may owe an employer or another person.

Moderation and removal

Posts appear on the feed immediately. From there, moderators review reported content and anything flagged automatically.

We may remove any content, at any time, at our discretion — with or without notice, and whether or not it breaks a specific rule above. We may also block access from an IP address or network where we consider it necessary to protect the site or the people using it.

To report a post, use the report control on the post itself, or send its post ID through the contact form. We aim to review reports within 24 hours.

Nothing here is permanent

This is a free service with no accounts and no guarantees of retention. Posts may be removed by moderation, lost to a technical failure, or deleted as part of routine maintenance. Do not treat the site as storage for anything you want to keep. We are not liable for content that is removed or lost.

This is not a crisis service

saynothing.io is a place to write something down. It is not a counselling service, a crisis line, or a substitute for medical or mental-health care, and nobody is monitoring posts in real time to intervene.

If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, please contact a crisis service now. In the US and Canada, call or text 988. In the UK and Ireland, call 116 123. Elsewhere, your local emergency number will direct you.

Nothing on this site — including anything another user writes — is medical, legal, financial, or professional advice.

Other people's posts

Posts are written by anonymous members of the public. We do not verify them, and their accuracy, honesty, and tone are not ours. Content you find on the feed may be upsetting. You read it at your own discretion.

Availability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or from anything posted on it.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Indemnity

If your use of the site, or something you post, leads to a claim against us from a third party, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result — except where the claim arises from our own wrongdoing.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and material changes will be noted on the site. Continuing to use saynothing.io after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing here removes any consumer protection you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.

Questions about these terms, takedown requests, and legal notices all go through the contact form.
